This spring, Pär Wahlgren's Pettersson boat, which he built himself, was completed. We went on a trip with Emmy and asked Pär about the experiences he brings back from the project, which has taken up many hours of his time. Building a boat by hand is not for the impatient. Carpenter Pär Wahlgren from Tyresö/Sweden knows this better than most. In his spare time, he has, step by step, transformed wood into a shiny classic: a historic Pettersson boat from 1934. The boat was named Emmy, after an aunt that Pär was very fond of.
"Everything takes a lot longer than you think. That's how it is. And now you were well aware of it. I've been doing this for a while anyway."
For Pär, it was the hull that was relatively quick to put together. It was the interior that required patience and precision. There he had to spend many hours on special solutions and unique joinery - a craft that really leaves its mark on the boat.

A summer with Emmy
After years of work came the reward: a summer of boating with Emmy. Pär took his Pettersson boat on long trips through the Stockholm archipelago, all the way up to Rödlöga, Svartlöga, Möja and down towards Vaxholm.
"Wherever you went, there were happy shouts and many people waving and thinking it looked nice. It's fun."

For Pär, even the small components are important. The boat is equipped with fittings from ROCA, something he is very pleased with."They are put to quite a lot of stress outside in the elements. And they are still like new."
